Sign Was A Scrap Of Paper
A scrap of paper push-pinned inside a glass case described the ceramic art. It read in part: "The Shoppers" (In the alley around the southwest corner of Madison plaza) This abstract image, which depicts busy shoppers with their many packages, is composed principally of colored concrete with found materials including metal remnants from local secondhand stores and a variety of coins from the artist's past travels, and ceramic chards of Majolica tiles. Although "Majolica" originally described eathenwares (covered terracotta) made in Mediterranean Europe, the term has, since the Victorian era, designated white clay bodies covered in bright colors mixed into translucent lead glazes.
