Huge steel pipes were welded to the vertical side supports that prevented wall collapse. Note the work lights near the highway cones on the left.

An elevated platform was supported by steel stilts in the center. On this platform were two cranes used to haul up dirt from the hole. Notice busy First Street passing over the hole midway.

A backhoe stood next to a crane on the platform on stilts that ran down the center of the dig.

There were two crane outliers to the main central island on stilts in the center of the dig. Also note the red porta-potty in the center of this shot.

A generator could be seen far below at the bottom of the dig as it appeared this day.

A yellow depth gauge was mounted on the wall across from Minna Street. It was a little too far away to read clearly.
