Viewed from the boat trip, three Harbor Seals lounged on partially submerged rocks.
A very large Bald Eagle nest was in the lichen draped trees. Our boat trip allowed us to see many of these.
A Bald Eagle was perched on a channel marker near Ketchikan, Alaska.
A Harbor Seal, not keeping dry exactly, but staying out of the water; more or less.
Two Pigeon Guillemots took flight.
A flock of Surf Scoters are shown with two Pigeon Guillemots at the far left. We saw many dozens of both these birds while on this trip.
An Eagle sat on its very large nest.
We took the Lighthouse, Totems & Eagles Excursion
I photographed this Bald Eagle perched on a channel marker on the sea wall of Ketchikan harbor.
I present a close-up of the Barred Owl posted yesterday.
The Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary was also home to a rescued Barred Owl.
Here is my last shot of a Bald Eagle taken at the Rainforest Sanctuary.
This Bald Eagle was one of two rescued and rehabilitated.
A Stellar's Jay perched on the lip of a bowl of reindeer food and chowed down.
A stare from a Bald Eagle is something to be remembered.
This Bald Eagle was one of two rescued and rehabilitated.
A salmon jumped up a fish ladder at the fish hatchery on Eagle Creek in Ketchikan.
After we visited the fish hatchery on the Eagle Creek estuary,
we went over to the Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary.
This Bald Eagle was one of two rescued and rehabilitated eagles we saw there.
This immature Bald Eagle seemed to enjoy the afternoon sun on his high perch.
The tree was next to the road on the way to the ferry terminal.
This is the underside of the caterpillar posted yesterday.
This colorful caterpillar wasn't poisonous, but its hairs could be irritating.
We did not touch it, but merely admired its beauty.
We found a small stream where the salmon had gathered for their spawning run.
I saw many, many salmon on that trip:
Leaping in coves; swimming upstream; and jumping up a fish ladder.
It took quite a while for me to photograph this tiny, fast moving little bird.
t is a juvenile Pacific Wren that has retained it's bright yellow gape
The Ravens I saw in Alaska seemed huge when seen up close.
Sadly, I only got a few usable photos of this great bird,
because they only came close when I didn't have a camera.
Go figure.
This is one of my rare photos of a Common Raven in Alaska.
