We visited the Mendenhall Glacier just ouside of Juneau, Alaska and saw
a yellow warbler in the bushes near the visitor's center. A welcome
spot of cheerful color on a cold and misty day.
A young bullfrog sat on a log in the autumn sun.
A Steller's Jay at Mt. Pisgah Arboretum did a lot of scolding that day.
After viewing the Sawyer glacier in Tracy Arms fjord, our boat headed
to Juneau. Partway there we spotted a brown bear on the rocky bank. He
watched us watching him and then leisurely made his way across the
rocks, then faded into the trees.
A Pacific Banana Slug was on the path well camouflaged among fallen leaves.
While walking the Long Tom River nature trail I came across this bold, scolding squirrel.
You could see curiosity and wariness at war, as he wanted to see me and run away at the same time.
We saw these three ladies lounging in their pool. That's what I imagined anyway.
We spotted a large Bald Eagle perched high in a tree near the water
Two Harbor Seals were seen from the boat, one lounging and one swimming.
