As a part of his "stupid" costume, he wore a stack of hats. The lowest of the stack happened to be straw hats, hense this catagory. The St. Stupid's Day Parade is an annual San Francisco event held every April Fools Day.

The San Francisco LGBT Pride Parade is an annual event every June. It runs down Market Street to the Civic Center. Here was one woman in the parade wearing a large yellow straw hat.
