A blob of red spray paint had defaced a window in downtown Eugene, Oregon. The word "Black" had then been scratched into the surface of the dried red paint. Together the color and the word create confusion in the mind of the viewer.

Blue Attached To Stucco

The word blue, written in black letters, was part of a store name. Here black metal letters were attached to a gray stucco face of the building above the front entry to the store. If one later tried to remember this image, would the letters be remembered in blue or in black?
