Big Red 1974, Artist: Bruce Beasley 1960-, An American Artist, Washington/Jefferson Park, Eugene, Oregon
The blade end of the sculpture with x-shapes in the holes.
A long blade of dull metal stuck out from one end of the sculpture.
A view of the sculpture from its blade end, with the blade jutting out from the photo.
A shot from behind the sculpture revealed graffiti on the blade.
The sculpture was located in the dead center in a small green park between a freeway offramp and a freeway on-ramp at the western edge of downtown Eugene, Oregon. From this angle it resembled two 8's having
a tug of war.
A shot from the back of the sculpture at its non-blade end. Notice the neighborhood beyond
the sculpture.
The back side of the sculpture with a 7-11 beyond. Notice the left end has a short blade sticking up
and another short blade sticking out sideways.
A closer shot of the way the metal pieces fit together, cleanly welded edge to edge.
A closer shot of the lower part of the sculpture showed grass stuck to it, and a tiny graffiti name.
Lots of graffiti covered one of the flat panels on the back of the sculpture.
