Breathing Flower (2012), by Choi Jeong Hwa
|
The sculpture was a large red flower atop a black box. The petals of the flower appeared to be inflated and were slowing
moving, as if the flower were breathing.
|
The sign on the flower read in part:
This work of art is part of Phantoms of Asia: Contemporary
For Breathing Flower, internationally acclaimed Korean artist
|
Here was the flower in the context of the Pride Parade Festival. Nestled among booths it became just another part of the background.
|
Another angle on the Breathing Flower that shows better detail of the fabric petals.
The movement as it breathed was for the petals to settle down (droop) and then
to rise back up again.
