Musical Bench 2003, Artist: David Govedare, From Steam Plant Square donated salvage material, Lincoln Street At Sprague Avenue
A plaque embedded in the sidewalk read:
The bench stood on the sidewalk alongside a brick wall, near the corner of First Avenue At Sprague Avenue, in Spokane, Washington.
Strips of metal were welded to the back of the bench in an arrangement that resembled musical notes.
An abstracted mouth played a harmonica next to a saxophone.
The harmonica was bronze, as were the lips and teeth. The bottom lip was welded to the seat bottom.
A set of snare drums with two drumsticks divided one side of the bench from the other side. Thus preventing anyone from lying down or sleeping on the bench.
The other end of the bench was decorated with metal cutouts of a trombone and a trumpet.
Another mouth, a the other end of the bench, sang as indicated by a swirl of metal.
The bench alongside a brick wall as seen from across Sprague Avenue.
