A close up of one on the ground showed off the texture of its surface.

Some were raised on posts, while other lay flat on the grass. The effect was to make them appear as if subject to rapids.

Oak had been carved into the shapes of boats, charred dark, and mounted on the lawn in an arrangement resembling boats traveling up the lawn.

The ends showed signs of splitting and cracking. One might expect this condition to continue because the art was subject to exterior conditions.

The charred oak wooden object that resembled a boat nearest the hedge appeared to bob up as it swept past.

The view from the sidewalk looking back upstream at the boats. The tableaux almost resembled the rental area for canoes.

A small sign for this art work was glued to the sidewalk on the other side of the hedge from the sculpture. So by walking on the lawn for a close look, one might miss this identifier. The sign read:
