"Burka Boarder" 2011, Artist: Finley Fryer, American Sculptor, 711 E Street, Davis, California
The small sign identifying this sculpture read:
The sculpture stood in the shade by the trunk of a mature tree. It depicted a woman or girl wearing a burka while
riding a skateboard. The identifying sign was by the front wheel of the skateboard.
The back of the sculpture showed off its welded seams.
A closer look at the body of the "Burka Boarder" sculpture. Notice how the metal was slightly bent to create the illusion of fabric.
The face of the "Burka Boarder" sculpture lacked detail as if a veil or a mask of some sort obliterated that face detail.
The hood was also ambiguous. It could also have been a football helmet or a motorcycle helmet.
A closer look at the spots of rust forming on the body of the sculpture.
The feet and sketeboard of the "Burka Boarder" sculpture. Notice how dirt and pieces of fall leaves have gathered around
the feet and wheels. Also notice how the hem of the garment showed signs of rust.
