Play Sculpture 1975, by Isamu Noguchi, American Artist, 1904-1088
The sign identifying the sculpture was post on a wall next to it. The sign read:
Play Sculpture
Courtesy The Isamu Noguchi Foundation and Garden Museum, New York
You are welcome to play on this sculpture. Please use caution. Children must be supervised by an adult.
The sculpture was located in the shade just off a pedestrian alley behind the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
The part of the sign about play was silk-screened on concrete in several places surrounding the
sculpture.
The sculpture was painted fire-engine red, and undulated like a delightful worm or caterpillar.
The surface of the sculpture was smooth, with no sign of the slightest weld seams.
The sculpture was held up from the floor with a few peg shaped legs.
