"Dia de Los Muertos Bench" 2014, Artist: Wes Horn, Located at Ace Hardware, 4th and G Streets, Davis, California
A sign embedded in the sidewalk read:
The "Dia de Los Muertos Bench" was located in the parking lot for Ace Hardware.
The bench was highly decorated with designs that related to the Mexican Day Of the Dead (Dia de Los Muertos) celebration.
One the side of the bench, a skeletal man held out a cob of corn to a skirted skeletal woman.
The front back of the bench featured a floral eyed skull surrounded by insects, a bird, flowers and cactus.
The seat of the bench was a repeating tile mosaic pattern.
The lower front of the bench featured skeletal hands holding a heart. To one side, two skeletal people walked a skeletal dog. On the other side, two skeletal people rode bicycles. Notice that the skeletal bike riders wore helmets for safety.
The back of the "Dia de Los Muertos" bench showed an upright guitar with a woman at its base.
The words along the top translated into: The life of the dead endures in the memory of the living.
