Chevron Richmond Refinery, As Deconstruction Through Petroleum
A storage tank for petroleum products, when photographed at dawn, becomes a symbol of the past in this new century. Notice the stairs and ladder. They can be used to judge the huge size of this tank.
A helicopter landing area was marked on the bottom of an old storage pond. Next to
it was another tank for storing petroleum products.
Many pipes became the backbone of the refinery. They were used to move products from tank to tank or from import to export.
Power lines ran through the center of the refinery. In the foreground were cooling devices.
Three storage tanks lit by the rising sun with a high tension tower in the foreground edge.
All of the tanks appeared to be numbered. This particular tank was numbered 1051.
A big pipe was routed up and over an access road. Contrast the size of this pipe to the smaller pipes
next to it in the shot.
