2008, Santarchy, San Francisco
Later that afternoon the event began to wind down
The Elixir Saloon proved an attractive watering hole
He offered to smite with a mighty branch
A few gathered to sing Christmas carols
Her hat was like a large dollop of whipped cream
In December he wore a fresh flower lei
For one the message was the traditional peace
The mob of Santas moved up 16th toward Dolores Street
Oddly, others marched the opposite direction
Two Santas waited to cross 18th Street at the light
The main gathering, it happened, was in Dolores Park
Santas raced on blocks of ice
Santas engaged in a snow ball throwing fight
In San Francisco, snow balls must be imported
For the young, a head of white hair is happy making
They huddled for warmth near a large palm
For some, the atmosphere was cocktail-party-like
The traditional Santa high wire walk
More spirited downhill ice runs
Two smartly attired elves were there too
Just then a serious challenge evolved
The race began with excited cheers
The race ended in the joviality of a tie
Meanwhile the lead Santas planned the next move
Giants too had a place by the big tree
One woman swallowed a flaming sword
The sword swallower was worth texting about
The supply of snowballs began to dwindle
The police arrived to restore order
Alas but the police car was out numbered
A lone Santa wandered in search of the gathering
