Asociacion Mayab, At The 2013 San Francisco Carnival Parade
The banner for the Asociacion Mayab contingent was carried by three women.
Two kids were pushed in a hand-powered cart, so that they would not have to walk.
This was one of two paintings that were on display on the side of this Asociacion Mayab float.
In it is depicted Mayan ruins and an iguana.
A second painting was displayed on the side of the Asociacion Mayab float. This painting showed a group of women seated around a table and making tortillas by hand.
A group of dancers next followed the float and danced with red cloth.
The men followed next and danced with snapping fingers.
A man danced with a basket on his head. Inside that basket was the (fake) head of a dead pig.
More women dancers followed the men and wore lovely floral costumes.
A dance pole was last and was carried down the street and set down at intervals so dancers could dance around it.
