2011 The Wedding
The wedding took place on the lower deck of the Hornblower boat.
The bride's relations sat on the left (further toward port side)
and the groom's relations sat on the right (near the starboard side).
David waited for his bride to arrive. His best man was his son Jesse who
had gotten married himself just a couple weeks earlier. The rose on David's lapel
had been pinned there by his sister Terry.
Serenity entered just after the ring bearer and got almost all the way
in before remembering she had to spread rose petals. She hustled back to the
door and entered again this time scattering rose petals.
Melinda entered from the dock escorted by her brother Martin.
He was retired from the Army and was dressed in his
former uniform.
The boat's captain performed the ceremony. He read a standard service, and after the exchange of rings
pronounced them man and wife.
Following the ceremony champagne and sparkling cider were served first to
the newly married couple who toasted all who had attended.
Champagne and sparkling wine were then served to everyone.
Melinda's brother Martin was first to voice a toast to the newly married couple.
David's sister Terry rose next to toast the newly wedded couple.
Almost two hours later David had a turn at the microphone to share
his greetings and gratitude with all those assembled.
At last the cake was cut. They both held the knife together and sliced through the top layer.
The cake was moved into the bar area and cut and plated by kitchen staff.
The cake was served and here was David's son enjoying his first bite.
