Lichen At Honeyman State Park
Lane County, Oregon
As A Campsite Place

A lichen is a composite organism that arises from algae or cyanobacteria living among filaments of multiple fungi in a symbiotic relationship. The combined lichen has properties different from those of its component organisms. Lichens come in many colours, sizes, and forms. The properties are sometimes plant-like, but lichens are not plants. [from wikipedia]

A classic "haunted forest" lichen hung from a branch that ran over the path.

An arrangement of lichen encrusted branches partly blocked the view of the lake beyond.

A branch appeared to be a lazy Y on its side, lying in front of a lichen covered bell curve.

A cut log was placed along one side of the path. That log had, over time, become lichen (or possibly moss) covered.

Lichen on a svelte twig blew feather-like in the same breeze that rippled the lake behind it.

Small tufts of lichen appear to have been blown across the lake and caught by a branch over the water. Actually the lichen likely grew directly on the branch after spores landed there.
