Trena McDermott April 9, 2012

It is amazing to find these pictures. My husband, Patrick, grew up here, his father Percy McDermott (Mr. Mac) was the boss at this plant. We went to Quepos two years ago, and got to see his house up on the hill. I am sure these pictures are going to bring him many memories...thank you!!

Thanks for posting these pictures! I lived in Parrita and attended 2nd and 3rd grades in Quepos. My little sister was born in that hospital (1952). It's sad to see such a beautiful place looking so abandoned, but I guess life moves on and nothing remains the same.

I am amazed to see thess pics. My family has lived in Quepos since before the Banana Company was there. My grandfather was the only Guinchero in all of the area he was constantly being taken to different muelles to work. My uncles later also worked there and I remember my mom telling me how they use to go get their glass bottles of milk with little paper caps from this building. I would go by this place when we returned to Quepos for vacations from The USA, Down the street there were very long stairs leading up the to the CERRO to the workers homes and my family lived there for many many years. My family is one of much much older families of the area and I have gone to Quepos and seen how of the Old Quepos there is only but a glimpse here and there. It is beautiful now but it was amazing than. The struggles to overcome made it worth living there. I LOVE QUEPOS, thank you for sharing.
