Channel Island Harbor

Located far from busy roads, the marina was quiet and peaceful that
Friday morning in October.
|
Kayaks lay stacked and piled alongside the dock. As the day progressed
people would arrive to rent and paddle the kayaks on the quiet harbor.

A can labeled "Dog Treats" was set out for those walking dogs.
The sign above the can read:

A hotel lay just across the harbor from the marina. And just walking distance
beyond the hotel was an ocean beach.
|
A fishing boat, the Nicholas Michael, was among several fishing boats docked
in the marina.
|
A hoist was available to raise rental boats for transfer into and
out of the water.
|
A sign indicated that the Sea Fresh Channel Islands restaurant was open.
The sign read:

A man walked his dog out the short path surrounding the commercial
area of the harbor shore. To the right (off camera) were restaurants
and boat rental store fronts.

Palm trees and flat land could fool one into wrongly thinking this marina was
in Florida.
|
Inside this building were located businesses such as a spa,
a diner, law offices, insurance, and boat trips.
|
The Latitude 34 Deli opened at 7 a.m. seven days a week.
It featured "Sandwiches," "Beer & Wine," and "Great Burgers."

CI Kayak stood for Channel Island Kayak, a kayak sales and rental store,
and provider of kayak trips to the Channel Islands.
|
Scarlett Belle Paddlewheel Boat hosted parties, weddings, and special events.

The larger boats were docked at the ends of each dock.

A modest, powered rental boat was touring the harbor.

One of the kayaks that was rented was being rowed alongside the docks.
