Old Car In Window

An old Model T Ford was on display in the front window of the San Diego History Center. The doors opened at 10:00 a.m and closed at 5:00 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. The museum was closed Mondays, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.

San Diego History Center presented a collaborative exhibition with The Old Globe theater. The Old Globe's 75th anniversary was celebrated with an interactive exhibition of dramatic costumes from the Old Globe.

Wall Of Sketches

Three walls were covered with a collection of costume sketches from the Old Globe theater. A really amazing assortment of costume designs collected over the Old Globe's 75 year history.

Transforming The Actor

Sketches To Color

Several different costume sketches were available on a table in the center of the exhibit area. Colored pencils were available for kids to use to color the sketches.

Try On Costumes

In the back of the exhibit area were changing rooms and a stage. Visitors could change into costumes and appear on the stage to feel what it might be like to perform. Note the egg suit costume was the one available for coloring in the previous shot.

Main Entry Hall

The main entry hall was decorated with sketches for the special exhibit. There were no exhibits up stairs, but art was on display through the next arch.

Floor Was A Map

Behind the second arch was a floor covered with a giant map of the San Diego area. Push pins showed areas of interest, such as the location of the museum in which you stood.

Flanking the map were two huge murals in the style of old Spain. They stood easily 30 feet (9 meters) tall and illustrated the Spanish conquest of the Americas.
