Noe, Courts Playground
|
A pocket of shade just one block long
|
A wide lawn edged with other activities
|
Two signs specified remarkably sparse rules:
"Dogs must be held on leash. Guardians must pick up after their dogs."
and
"Park closed 10 P.M. TO 6 A.M."
|
Dogs were required to be on-leash, but all were off leash that
day. The area was fenced, but the gates were not spring loaded so
could accidently be left open. Water was evident, but no poo-bag
dispensers were present.
|
This restroom module was built in 1930. A study made by the Park and Recreation
Department determined in 2009 that the facility was in poor condition.
|
The basketball hoops appeared ragged and the courts were
unlined so play must be casual.
|
A newly refurbished playground (ten times larger than the original)
lay at the corner of 24th Street and Douglass, closest to the
main shopping area. A fence separated the dog play grass from the playground.
|
The sign said, "No Dogs Allowed," but one large dog
slept inside the courts that day (out of frame). Probably the companion
of the players.
|
Mature trees provided significant areas of shade
|
Most San Francisco parks have entrances at the corners.
This park requires one to either walk left up the hill to
a gate, or right along the level to a playground entrance
mid-block.
