Railroad, Of The Redwood Valley Railway In Tilden Regional Park
Steam engine number 11 waited for passengers to disembark and for new passengers to replace them.
The engineer answered questions during that interval.
A caboose for the rail line was the last car stopped just beyond the end of the boarding path.
Some cars provided inside seating. These cars were more like the enclosed freight cars of full sized railroads.
The coupling between the rail cars was the same as those used by full sized railroads.
The rail itself was steel track laid atop wooden ties and bedded in crushed rock.
An actual water tank was used to refill the steam engines with water. A man stood by to operate the
water tank.
A house used to store the train cars when the railroad was closed.
