Sunset Bay, At Sunset Bay State Park, Oregon Parks And Recreation Department, As A Park Or Park District, Coos Bay, Oregon
Sunset Bay featured a large crescent beach with little wave action. The occasional dead tree still standing was left over from a subduction earthquake
in the year 1200.
A natural breakwater protected the beach from the anger of the Pacific Ocean. The water was so calm that two kayaks floated peacefully on its surface.
Cliffs formed the southern border of Sunset Bay's beach. Notice how the vertical striations in the cliff face were bent.
Landscape fabric and concrete have slowly been eroded from under the parking lot causing litter to fall onto the sand.
Trees fell from the cliff as the cliff was slowly eroded over time. A pile of deadfall blocked access to that part of the beach. A group of kids
admired the deadfall.
A sign was posted that described "General Warnings" using symbols and words.
Tuesday was a warm sunny summer day at the beach. The water was calm and the sky was blue with just a few wispy clouds. This view looked north at
a cliff blocking that end of the beach.
