In the female plant (shown here) each stalk ends in one or more
seed husks.
|
The photographer was included in this shot to illustrate the compact size of this
plant. Note how Thamnochortus Lucens grows in the form of a rounded ball.

Here is a closeup of the female stalk heads. Notice that each stalk has
alternating bands of color that run up its length.
|
This view of the interior stalk bundle shows that it is decidedly green.
But that color of green is totally lost when the plant is viewed from any distance.
