In the San Francisco zoo, a sprinkler head was ready to spray vegetation just outside the hippo enclosure. The flap on the top was spring loaded and would open when water pressure caused an irrigating spray, then close again.

A classic rainbird (impact) sprinkler ready to water the lawn surrounding the picnic tables. This sprinkler was made in Taiwan. Notice the sprinkler's spray has slowly eroded the paint off of the oscillating arm.

A rainbird (impact) sprinkler was mounted atop a blue steel pipe in the Arboretum. The sprinkler was roughly four yards (four meters) above the ground and showed no sign of having been used so far that day.
