History, of the San Francisco (SFO) Airport
In the 60s one could park in the road in front. There was only one terminal back then, and few back then
worried about security.
The parking lot in the 60s was front and center. In the future this area would become enclosed and surrounded by
four separate terminals.
The tarmac as it looked in 1964. Note that back then it was possible to step out onto an exterior balcony
to watch the planes.
The airport just after a hard rain in 1967. This was the view while parked at the airport.
The International terminal's tarmac at night as viewed from one of the windows in
the Domestic terminal. Note San Bruno Mountain barely visible in the background.
