Healthy Spirits Mural, Artist: Unknown, As A Form Of Found Art, 14th Street at Valencia Street, San Francisco, California
The mural was drawn on the side of the Healthy Spirits store which faced 15th Street.
It was painted underneath the words, "Purveyors of Beer • Bourbon • Agave Est
1998."
The mural on the side of the Healthy Spirits store included plants, colorful leaves, and bees.
On the sidewalk, the presence of trash cans and an old printer partly occluded the mural.
One of a few bees that were painted on the slatted wall. Notice how the wings were thinly painted
to resemble the view of bee wings as a bee flew.
Stalks of wheat were drawn on the wall. The suggestion was that some drinks were made from wheat.
A large head of wheat was painted between two windows.
The windows reflected the buildings across the street from the Healthy Spirits store.
Graffiti decorated the left-hand window.
One of the bees was painted down low near the sidewalk.
Another bee stood on top of a head of wheat. That bee, too, was painted low near the sidewalk.
Among the plants painted on the wall of Healthy Spirits were a few green and blue agave plants.
A blue and red swirl of color was pained on the wall. This swirl was the only thing that looked like
an artist's signature. This is why the artist is listed as "Unknown."
A much closer photograph of one of the bees. This view revealed the detail of how the bee was painted.
