Centennial Bridge, Over The Panama Canal, Panama
The Centennial Bridge is located 15 km (9.3 mi) north of the Bridge of the Americas and crosses the Culebra Cut (Gaillard Cut) close to the Pedro Miguel locks. Here it just began to appear
in the distance on a hazy day threatening rain.
The bridge is high enough over the water, 80 m (262 ft), for even huge ships to pass under it.
The bridge spans over the Culebra Cut (Gaillard Cut), the most difficult dig of the
original canal. Landslides killed hundreds of worker and buried the railroad
during the original dig.
A cable-stayed bridge
A roadway connects to the bridge on it eastern side. The road is a four lane freeway.
The roadbed was a single concrete span.
The eastern tower of the bridge and the roadway held up by cables.
A view under the bridge showing where the tower meets the ground.
A we left the Centennial Bridge behind and continued south the bridge began to disappear in
a heavy downpour of rain.

A video of the pouring rain on deck and how that rain obscured the view of the shore.
