The Hacienda, At Dancing Deer Farm
The front gate of the Hacienda was through a fence that separated the dirt parking area from the Hacienda proper.
The only way into or out of the property was by car because there was no nearby public transportation.
A guest register was on a table alongside a welcome binder just inside the main entryway (just visible at the right of the
reflection in the mirror).
A grouping of a sofa, a love-seat, and a recliner surrounding a coffee table all faced a fireplace (just off screen to the left).
A well provisioned kitchen had all the equipment needed to prepare food for large groups. A gas range, a four-slice toaster, and (barely seen to the left) an upright refrigerator next to an upright freezer.
A large conference area that could be filled (as shown here) with tables and chairs. To the right was the back of the
fireplace. To the left were doors that led out to a back deck.
The etched glass top of a table that was on the back deck. Not shown, was a hole and an umbrella that rose over the table.
Some rooms had three beds, some had two beds, and a few had single beds. All were supplied with a single bath towel and
two sheets not yet put on the beds. Covering the bed with sheets was difficult because neither sheet was fitted.
This was a shot of one of many lizards that lived on the grounds.
The back yard with stairs leading down from the back deck. This end of the back deck was behind the kitchen.
The swimming pool was downhill from the back yard and was an above ground pool. Beyond the pool was a hot "therapy" pool.
The back of the house as seen looking up from the volleyball/badminton court.
The supplies to play badminton, volleyball, and soccer were piled in a black bucket under the swimming pool end of the net.
As you can see, the playing surface was gravel.
The pool lay at the end of a stone path, a considerable walk down hill from the house. It was surrounded by trees, but not shaded during mid day.
The back deck ran along the entire back of the house but was widest behind the kitchen. Notice all the seating
available for a large group to eat.
A gazebo in the back yard stood on elevated pilings over a vast grassy area that deer sometimes passed through. The rising sun
was to the left in this picture.
