One of many pieces that will make up the new Richard Serra sculpture. It will decorate the lobby of the new wing of the San Francisco Museum Of Modern Art. A crane outside and a derrick just visible inside were needed to move the huge, heavy pieces into place.

A canvas image that was on the sidewalk showed what the eventual sculpture would look like. It was not clear if one would be able to look down on this sculpture from above when the museum reopens.

A huge crane was needed to move these large pieces off of a truck and down onto a steel platform used to move the sculpture inside.

The crane blocked off two left lanes of Howard Street. The effect on traffic appeared slight, but the previous days news programs said that the street had been completely blocked in the morning.
