A full sized fire engine (number 7) was at the far end of this playground. In the foreground was a spinner with a statue of a dalmatian dog (named Dal) on it. A stout fence surrounded the playground to prevent kids from falling off.

A huge replica of a fireman's boot lay on the ground and provided a place for kids to crawl through. Notice the tread on the bottom of the boot.

A huge fire hydrant doubled as a slide and a viewing bubble. Barely visible in the photo to the left of the hydrant were stairs up into it.

A fake log cabin was called, "Kid's Cabin" and stood next to the fire engine. It had stairs leading up to a slide. Notice the red safety rails and the bottle of water on the step.

The Game

A sign above the statue of a dalmatian dog named Dal, and a spinner, read:

Pixie Woods Fire Station No. 1
1. A designated "spinner" spins the wheel and calls out the number that Dal's tail points to. This is the number of squares player 1 moves.
2. Player 1 follows the yellow arrows counting the number of squares they've spun.
3. If player 1 lands on a square with a red arrow, its not good, they have to follow the red dots, slide down the "chute" and loose their lead in the game.
4. If player 1 lands on a yellow arrow at the "ladder", they will follow the yellow dots and advance in the game.
5. Each player has a spin in turn and the game continues until someone reaches the "finish".
6. Keep playing and make up your own games too.
