The landing platform was erected at the end of the grass down by the F-Line trolley turnaround between Steuart and Embarcadero Streets. It was stabilized by cables anchored to huge weighed blocks.

Braking at the end

The men working at the landing end, would slide braking mechanisms out onto the cable to halt the zip-liners. The brakes caught the cable runner and allowed the men to haul in the sliders for a gentle landing.

The launching tower was located at the furthest end of Justin Herman plaza. It lay just inside the boundary from Peter Pan's tent.

A huge banner ad was set up by the grass closer to the Ferry Building. It was lit by the sun, so could be viewed from either side.

The rides were free, but

The rides were free, but required a wrist band. To get a wrist band required waiting in another line. Notice that the rides only ran from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., but the wristbands were "sold out," by noon.

The wrist bands were unavailable as of noon

The sign said, "Wristbands no longer available for today. Please come back tomorrow at 10 a.m." What this sign really meant was that you need to come back really early for a wrist band.

A chalk drawing was made on the bricks. It was a false perspective that needed to be viewed from the platform behind it.

The drawing when viewed form the platform appeared as if a huge hole was dug into the plaza. Enlarge his image by clicking on it to appreciate its scope.

Two men tried, and succeeded to launch together. The tall trees on the platform could not fool the building behind.
