Pond Scum, (Chlorella)
Ometepe Island lay inside Lake Nicaragua, a huge freshwater lake. Pond scum had formed alongside the shore and underneath
a tree that dropped tiny white flowers onto the scum.
By shooting straight down on a scum covered part of an aqueduct floor, the illusion was created of a wall of pond scum.
Pond scum near the gates that controlled spring water-flow were now beginning to dry out as summer neared.
At the other end of the aqueduct there was a slow flow of water that had shaped this pond scum into a swirling
pattern.
A pale green pond scum had grown to cover the area just below the overflow of a now dry aqueduct.
The vivid green might have been due to the presence of rich compost in the nearby farm soil.
Winds blowing across the bay has slowly driven pond scum into the marina at
Treasure Island. Here is what it looked like close into shore. Notice the masts reflected
in the water.
Wind driven pond scum could turn any elegant marina into a shabby copy of itself.
