![]() The lighthouse was constructed of brick with one round wall inside another. The air gap between the two walls help chimney away most of the soot from the lamp back when it was kerosene powered.

![]() The lens was multi-paneled to create a Fresnel lens. It was constructed in France, shipped in pieces and assembled on location. In the old days, the inside of the lens had to be cleaned daily. With its modern electric lamp, the lens only needs to be cleaned once per year.
