The bust of Giuseppe Verdi rested atop a pedestal in a glade just west of the museums on the Academy Of Sciences side. The bust was gold, and the statue wrapping the base was weathered bronze.

The surname of Verdi was written in gold letters just below his gold bust.

A plaque was located on the base of the pedestal. It read:

Erected by the Italian Colony
Through the initiative of the
Daily L'Italia
And Donated to the city of San Francisco
March MDCDXIV

The base of the pedestal was also covered in a statue. Cherubs worked to arrange a fabric, while a naked man with an hourglass in one hand, held up a wreath with his other hand.

The bust of Giuseppe Verdi was made of bronze covered in gold paint or foil. The gold color almost made him glow.

An overview photograph of the entire statue. Marble steps led up from a concrete base. A bronze statue partly wrapped the base. And the entire thing was topped with a gold bust of Giuseppe Verdi.
